Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Hispanea (the “Service”), an online platform for one-to-one Spanish lessons. By creating an account, booking a lesson or otherwise using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. Who can use Hispanea
You must be able to enter into a binding contract where you live. If a learner is under 18, a parent or guardian must accept these terms, manage the account, and book and pay for the lessons.
2. Your account
You sign in with your email address and a password, or with a one-time link we email to you. Keep your password and your email account secure: you’re responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away at hello@hispanea.app if you think someone else has used it.
3. Lessons, bookings and credits
- You can buy lessons one at a time, as prepaid lesson packs, or with a monthly subscription. Pack and subscription credits are used automatically when you book, and may have an expiry date shown when you buy them.
- A booking is confirmed once it has been paid for, or a credit has been used. Lesson times are shown in your time zone.
- Lessons take place over in-browser video. You need a suitable device and internet connection.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe; we never store your full card details. When you buy, you authorise the charge, including the regular charges of a subscription until you cancel it. Prices are shown before you pay and changes only apply to future purchases.
5. Cancellations, refunds and your right of withdrawal
Cancelling or missing a lesson, refunds, and your 14-day right of withdrawal are explained in Cancellation & refunds, which is part of these terms.
6. AI features
Hispanea uses AI to write lesson recaps, suggest vocabulary and homework, and power the AI tutor and café practice. AI can make mistakes: treat its output as a learning aid, and ask your teacher when in doubt. How these features use your data is explained in our Privacy policy.
7. Acceptable use
Please don’t misuse the Service. That includes recording lessons without the other person’s consent, harassing or abusing a teacher or student, sharing your account, trying to avoid payment, or disrupting the platform. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
8. Teaching materials
Materials, notes and other content you get through the Service are for your own learning. Please don’t share or sell them without the permission of whoever owns them.
9. Liability
We work hard to keep the Service running well, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. As far as the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the lesson(s) the claim is about. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll tell you about important changes by email or in the app before they apply. If you keep using the Service after that, the new terms apply.
11. Governing law
If you’re a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there.
